Marshmallow Fondant

Ingredients:
16 ounces white marshmallows
3 tablespoons water
2 pounds powdered sugar

1/2 cup Crisco shortening

Directions:

1. Melt the marshmallows and 3 tablespoons of water in a microwave. Place bowl in the microwave for 30 seconds, stir, microwave for 30 seconds more, stir, and continue doing this until melted. It takes about 2 1/2 minutes total.

2. Place 1/2 of the powdered sugar on the top of the melted marshmallow.

3. Grease your hands GENEROUSLY, then heavily grease the counter you will be using.  Pour the bowl of marshmallow/sugar on the greased countertop.

4. Add the rest of the powdered sugar to the pile.  Start mixing/kneading the mixture (be careful, it could be HOT!).  It is going to be very sticky at this point.

5.   Keep kneading until you get a firm smooth elastic ball so that it will stretch without tearing when you apply it to the cake (if it tears add a small amount of water).

6. Usually I let it sit overnight wrapped in plastic wrap.
